Sound as architecture

Berlin-based architect, musician and sound artist Tuce Alba approaches sound as a material for building temporal and spatial experiences. Her work explores slow transformation, minimal movement and the physicality of sonic texture.

In her live performances, Alba constructs dense environments of noise, distortion, deep bass and feedback. Drawing inspiration from brutalist architecture, she treats sound as a solid structure — breaking, reshaping and reassembling it in real time. Melody and softness give way to raw energy and intensity, creating performances that are meant to be physically felt as much as heard.

A lifelong ney player, Alba expands the instrument’s possibilities by combining it with electronics and modular synthesis. Through this hybrid language, traditional sounds are fragmented, transformed and reimagined while remaining connected to their roots.

At Sónar Istanbul, Tuce Alba presents a performance where architecture, tradition and sonic experimentation converge into a powerful and immersive listening experience.
