Raised in Wales, siblings Tom and Ed Russell both had successful careers in electronic music before they began collaborating as Overmono — with Tom known for his hard-edged techno as Truss and Ed for his rave-instilled bass work as Tessela — although there was a brief time the brothers performed together as the hardware-based techno duo TR//ER. Drawing inspiration from their love of classic rave music and early-’90s trance and techno, they decided to reduce the influence of their individual work from the mix and form Overmono.
Overmono found their voice during the pandemic and established themselves amongst the most exciting and original artists in electronic music. In May of this year, Overmono released their debut album, Good Lies; a comprehensive realization of the sound that they’ve been working towards for the past few years. This followed a run of ground-breaking club EPs between 2020 and 2022 which built momentum and culminated in their global breakthrough single, “So U Kno”, which encapsulated the hearts of clubbers and went on to become a bonafide phenomenon.
