demo station : public domain VR cinema by bug lab & vr1 bau

Every year an exponentially growing list of titles in film and song lose their international copyright protections and enter the public domain, which leaves them available for unfettered reproduction by anyone who chooses. For these century-old pieces of entertainment, the results is being recycled into the means of consumption used today. Virtual reality is on a paralel track, 100 years apart, as an increasing number of 360-films and interactive VR experiences are released annually. In this context, the Public Domain VR Cinema was built as a meeting place of the past and present. Songs and movie shorts that have surpassed their one-hundredth birthday can be enjoyed once again while spectators sit in comfort and dwell in a recreated past.
