Relating her musical awakening with her attraction to "weirdos" starting from Manchester at the end of the 80s, renowned Irish singer, song writer and producer Róisín Murphy was influenced by musicians such as Sonic Youth, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Spaceman 3, Dinosaur Jr., My Bloody Valentine, Butthole Surfers, and later by The Stooges, The Velvets and The Angry Young Them.
Rising to fame with Moloko, the band she formed together with Mark Brydon, the Irish singer received critical acclaim between the late 90s and early 2000s especially with the success of the song titled Sing It Back. She continued to enjoy her success with her debut solo album Ruby Blue (2005) and second album Overpowered (2007). Maintaining a productive career after a hiatus that last nearly 5 years, Murphy released an EP titled Mi Senti (2014) and two studio albums: Hairless Toys (2015) and Take Her Up To Monto (2016). Mi Senti was an EP with covers of classic Italian songs and featured her second recent collaboration with Eddie Stevens, her close friend and producer of Hairless Toys as well as the second album of Moloko titled I Am Not A Doctor, which featured Sing It Back. Murphy has once again received critical acclaim with her most recent album Take Her Up To Monto which was released on the Play It Again Sam label on July 8th, and is ready to take the stage at Sónar İstanbul!
