Steve Goodman, a prominent figure of the electronic music scene thanks to his work as a DJ/Producer and as the founder of one of the most esteemed dubstep and grime record labels in the world, will be at Sónar Istanbul with his solo project; Kode9!

Known as one of the most ardent supporters of the Chicago footwork sound, Kode9 also played a key role in the popularization of dubstep. Starting out as a jungle and drum'n'bass DJ when he was just 16 years old, the Scottish artist came to be known for his bass heavy sets after he moved to London in 1997. His first work under the Kode9 moniker was in 2002 on the Tempa label. His reinterpretation of the Prince classic Sign o' the Times with The Spaceape titled Sine of the Dub was the first work to released on his own Hyperdub label. The first Kode9 album 'Memories of the Future' was also released on Hyperdub, which later released the records of musicians such as Burial, Jessy Lanza, Zomby, Mark Pritchard and Fatima Al Qadiri. On this album, Kode9 once again worked with The Spaceape.

Kode 9 released brilliant mix records for Dubstep Allstars in 2006 and the DJ-Kicks series in 2010 while Steve Goodman, the man behind Kode9, wrote Sonic Warfare: Sound, Affect, and the Ecology of Fear, the first step in his career as a writer.

Black Sun, Kode9's second album on which he once again worked with The Spaceape, was released in 2011. The third mix record of Kode9 came in 2013 for Rinse's mix series and was called Rinse:22. Nothing, was released in 2015 after The Spaceape passed away in 2014.
