Sam Shepard, or Floating Points as he is known throughout the global electronic music scene, attained a Ph.D. in neuroscience and epigenetics in University College London after his piano training in Chetnam's School of Music. While his doctoral studies were ongoing, Shepard went on with his music career, forming Eglo Records with DJ Alexander in 2009.

Making a name for himself with his singles and EPs that span a range of genres including funk, R&B, avant-garde jazz, techno, house and classical music, Floating Points received critical acclaim for his debut album Elaenia, which was released in November 2015. The album was released on Shepard's own Eglo Records label in the UK and on David Bryne's Luaka Bop label in the US, and was heralded  as the best album of the year by Resident Advisor.

Maintaining his productivity in 2016, Floating released a two-track EP titled Kuiper and a single called For Marmish Part II, a follow-up to For Marmish from Elaenia.

Having created brilliant mixes with esteemed musicians such as Jamie XX, Caribou and Four Tet, Floating Points will bring his gritty set to Sónar Istanbul, which will take place for the first time in Turkey on March 25th 2017 at Zorlu PSM!
