German DJ and music producer Stefan Kozalla, who uses the moniker DJ Koze on stage, owes his worldwide fame to his sets that combine various genres and sub-genres such as techno, tech house, minimal techno and hip-hop. He is still considered one of the most adventurous and innovative names of techno in the 21st century.
Having joined his first DMC (Disco Mix Club) contest when he was only 16 years old, Kozalla became second and proved his extraordinary ability. In the 1990's, he was a part of the German hip-hop act Fischmob and was using the moniker Adolf Noise. He started calling himself DJ Koze after releasing his mix album Music is Okay on the Yo Mama label and in time, became a prominent DJ of Kompakt, the renowned Cologne-based electronic label. Under Kompakt, he released Der Säger Von St. Georg (2003), which was in the compilation album Speicher 11; the maxi single titled The Geklöppel Continues (2003); the mix titled All My People Is My Friends (2004) and his album titled Kosi Comes Around (2005). He also produced two more albums; Wo Die Rammelwolle Fliegt (2005, Buback) and Amygdala (2013, Pampa Records).
Having compiled the 50th installment of !K7's DJ-Kicks series in 2015, DJ Koze once again proved his talent in house and hip-hop. He released similar compilation albums from his own Pampa Records as well; with appearances by Lawrence, Isolée and Gold Panda on Pampa Vol. 1 and compilations of his own remixes on Reincarnations: The Remix Chapter 2001-2009 and Reincarnations: The Remix Chapter 2009-2014. The Reincarnations series, his installment of the DJ-Kicks series and Pampa Vol. 1 all appeared in Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums in the US.
